APFS image creation glitch: no preboot or recovery image files

I have successfully created and deployed a 10.13.14 APFS image using DeployStudio. Yesterday, I tried to create a newer, udpated image and ran into problems.

The image seemed to create OK, but when I attempted to deploy it, all I got on the client machine was a blinking "?" icon (no boot drive found). I deleted the image from DS and re-created it, with the same results.

Looking on our DS Server, in Images/Masters/APFS, I saw that my original working image (let's call it Image1) had 4 files associated with it: Image1.i386.apfs.dmg, Image1.i386.id, Image1.i386.preboot.zip, and Image1.i386.recovery.zip.

However, the new image ("Image2") only had the primary DMG file: Image2.i386.apfs.dmg. The other 3 files were not created.

Any idea why this would be? What, if anything, am I doing wrong?

There is a work-around: I found that I could duplicate the other 3 files, rename them to "Image2.<...>" and everything seems to work, but why did I have to do this?

Thanks for any assistance!
