Incorrect permissions on startup volume being set

I believe that DS is setting incorrect permissions on the start up disk

2015-07-16 16:48:23.285 DeployStudio Runtime.bin[737:69705] Setting startup volume to 'Macintosh HD'.
2015-07-16 16:48:23.286 DeployStudio Runtime.bin[737:69705] /bin/chmod 1775 "/Volumes/Macintosh HD" 2>&1
2015-07-16 16:48:23.291 DeployStudio Runtime.bin[737:69705] /usr/sbin/chown root:admin "/Volumes/Macintosh HD" 2>&1

The owner and group of / should be root:wheel not root:admin and should be 755.

The default octal permissions can be seen by doing a fresh install on a machine from the OS X installer.app and then performing: stat -f "%A %a %N" /

Re: Incorrect permissions on startup volume being set

good catch, I will confirm, normal OS X install perms:
ls -l: drwxr-xr-x   35 root     wheel     1258 Jul  7 07:48 .
stat: 755 1437145441 /

ds restore perms:
ls -l: drwxrwxr-t  42 root        admin      1496 Jul 17 10:04 .
stat: 1775 1437145487 /

at least it's setting it owned by root.  all sorts of wiggy things happen when admin owns / (such as system caches refusing to rebuild)

This has not been fixed 2+ years later.  Please advise.

Re: Incorrect permissions on startup volume being set

We have a 1.7.9 beta build fixing the issue.
You can also fix it by appending a script task that restores the right permissions and ownership.

Sorry for going off topic but...

Is there a changelog that we could look? Does it includes the fixes that we have posted/reported here?

Thanks,

Thank you.  I’ve confirmed the issue is fixed and our software installed correctly.
