Master Creation Failure

I have just setup Deploy Studio Server. I have managed to create 3 Master images so far.
Now while trying to create a 4th it fails everytime. From looking at the logfile it seems to be starting off reading from "'/Volumes/Mac HDD'" and the error occurs when it suddenly tries to read from "'/Volumes/Mac HDD _1". Has anyone experienced this and knows how to solve the issue?

Re: Master Creation Failure

Sometimes image creation fails for unknown reasons, just try again.
Here are some tips that

I cannot remember if I have seen this specific error, but running repair disk, and repair permissions (gone in disk utility 10.11, but still available in 10.10) and try again.
Is it possible that there are two Mac HDD volumes?
Reboot to be sure you have no 'ghosts' from previous image runs (during imaging the temp sparseimages are mounted, and if there is in error, the mount is still mounted ...)

Once I could only make the image (after trying the tips above) when I put the 'Master Mac' in target disk mode to the server, and created the image using the runtime on the server. No idea why that worked and the netboot not, but it worked.

Re: Master Creation Failure

There definately not two drives
I have made all of my masters of the same machine

I have just erased and partitioned the drive again (1 Partition) and am busy with a fresh install

I am going to try again - i also tried restoring an image to this machine but it got stuck on "Blessing" for about 20min

Re: Master Creation Failure

I have tried making an image again of a different machine and the same is still happening.
Could this be something Server side as opposed to something on the source machine causing the problem?

Re: Master Creation Failure

2016-03-03 12:42:16.557 DeployStudio Runtime.bin[296:18081] could not access /Volumes/Mac HDD 1/Users/admin/Library/Containers/com.apple.AddressBook.ContactsAccountsService/Data/.CFUserTextEncoding - Operation not supported

These kinds of errors occur for no well understood reason (not that I've found, anyway).
Historically, if you can't fix it with Disk Utility's First Aid, determine if the file is something you really need, and if not, delete it from your master.
There is no guarantee you won't see a different file flagged on your next pass at capture, so be prepared to perform the file necessity evaluation, and deletion, a few times.

If you aren't specifically saving Address Book/Contacts data in your image, you could just delete the "com.apple.AddressBook.ContactsAccountsService" folder.
It should get recreated if it is missing when the admin account user requires it. (maybe?)

Re: Master Creation Failure

Thanks for that
I will give it a try

We have created a default profile (Replaced the English.lproj with a customised one) so there doesnt need to be any "data"(Contacts etc) saved in the image

Re: Master Creation Failure

Thank you for this. It worked and my image has now been correctly created
