DeployStudio Netboot without OS X Server

Hi all,

I've been running DS with an external hard drive setup and it has been working fine. One iMac in the lab runs the admin console and the hard drive points to it and has access to the repository. Albeit it slow at some times, it gets the job done. But the number of Macs I'll be in charge of will soon grow. I'd like to be able to simply netboot the clients rather than plug in the hard drive to each Mac. I do not have access to a Mac running OS X server.

Can DeployStudio run a netboot server on a Sierra or High Sierra?

Thanks for your input

Re: DeployStudio Netboot without OS X Server

You do need a mac that has the Netinstall service, and the easiest is to use macOS Server.
Can be done on a (older) macbook, as long as you use gigabit ethernet (adapter) and use smart IP address/DNS settings.

But you can do without a mac by using linjux box running bsdpy or a VM with NetSUS.
In all cases you need a computer with gigabit ethernet......
